Just two days before official launch of the iPhone 4, Apple today announced that it sold its three millionth iPad yesterday. The news comes just 80 days after launch.
“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, in a statement. “We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.”
According to a press release, the App Store now features over 11,000 iPad apps and 225,000 total apps. The iPad is available in both Wi-Fi and 3G models, ranging in price from $499 up to $828, depending the amount of memory.
Official launch of Apple’s next big device, the iPhone 4, is scheduled for June 24, although reports have been confirmed that some will be getting the device tomorrow. Apple has already placed the iPhone 4 on backorder as initial demand far exceeded expectations.
