Amazon isn’t waiting for Gingerbread to optimize its apps for tablets. Amazon today announced that Kindle apps will be tailored specifically for Android- and Windows-based tablets to enable customers to access the Kindle Store.
“Kindle is light weight, easy on the eyes with a paper-like Pearl e-ink display, and has a full month of battery life. It’s purpose-built for reading. Many people are buying both a Kindle and an LCD tablet computer,” said Dorothy Nicholls, director of Amazon’s Kindle business, in a statement.
This isn’t the first time that Amazon has crafted an app with a tablet in mind. The company’s Kindle app for the iPad is now one of the top 10 free apps for the iPad on iTunes.
