Google’s new Android mobile operating system will snag nearly 4% of U.S. smartphone market share in the fourth quarter of this year, Strategy Analytics predicts.
Companies led by HTC will sell 400,000 Android phones of 10.5 million smartphone units sold overall in the upcoming quarter, analyst Neil Mawston said.
A big factor will be operator subsidies, Strategy Analytics said. How T-Mobile and potentially other carriers such as AT&T price the Android phones remains to be seen.
