T-Mobile fed Google Android followers a meal; now will they get dessert?
The operator’s G1 smartphone was the first in the United States to use Android, but customers began requesting software updates almost immediately upon its release. Now, an over-the-air update called either RC31 or 1.1 is coming soon.
Its popular name is a bit more sweet: Cupcake. As explained on Google’s own Android source pages, Cupcake includes a long list of updates for application development, e-mail, MMS and Web browsing.
Support for on-screen keyboards is due in the current calendar quarter, while support for display sizes is a longer-term plan.
In addition to the question of release timing, customers want to know if the software will be just a patch for some existing bugs, or if it’ll be a more notable version 1.1.
A spokesperson for T-Mobile was not available today.
