Apple and AT&T said they have settled a suit filed by Klausner, which claimed that the iPhone’s visual voicemail application infringed on patents held by the privately held firm. Visual voicemail allows users to selectively listen to voicemails in any order they choose.
Filed last December, the suit asked for $360 million in damages and future royalties.
Apple and AT&T have agreed to separately license the technology from Klausner. The company had filed similar suits against Skype and Comcast and announced that Skype has also agreed to license the technology. Terms of the settlement and licensing terms were not announced.
Internet telephone company Vonage and wireless carrier Sprint Nextel also license the technology from Klausner.
