Apple today announced that its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) will be held June 8-12 at Moscone West in San Francisco.
As is usually the case with Apple’s annual software event, the company is promising new technologies for iOS and OS X for developers. This year though Apple will have its new Apple Watch added to the slate of hardware in need of software.
Along with likely glimpses of new versions of iOS and OS X, Apple is rumored to be rolling out a new music streaming service and a new generation of its Apple TV streaming box at WWDC.
Rumors about updates to the Apple TV include added support for third-party apps and Siri integration. The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is working on a streaming TV service to compete with existing offerings from Dish Network and Sony. That service could potentially make its debut at WWDC.
At last year’s event, Apple unveiled HomeKit, its smart home platform. This year, a HomeKit update could be coming to the Apple TV, which would allow the device to serve as a hub for connected devices in the home.
Developers wishing to attend can apply for tickets starting today through Friday, April 17.
