AT&T’s LTE network is getting more official by the day. The carrier today announced two new LTE-capable devices that will be of use to customers in five markets – Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio – when the service goes live this summer.
The company says it plans to roll out 4G LTE in at least 15 markets and to cover 70 million Americans with 4G LTE by the end of 2011.
The Momentum 4G features plug-and-play installation of AT&T Communication Manager and access to AT&T’s entire national Wi-Fi network. Customers will be able access 4G LTE speeds, where available, and when out of range have access to AT&T’s nationwide HSPA+ network. The Momentum 4G is $49.99 with two-year contract after a $50 mail-in-rebate.
The Elevate 4G is AT&T’s first 4G LTE mobile hot spot device, which includes a 1.77-inch display and connects up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices to the Internet. The Elevate 4G is $69.99 with two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
Both devices will be available this summer and will offer an expandable memory slot that supports microSD cards up to 32 GB and global connectivity with data roaming in more than 200 countries.
AT&T also announced new data services for those traveling internationally. The Data Global Add-on Packages, which launch July 17, double the data allowance of the carrier’s current packages.
AT&T will now offer a 50MB package for $24.99/month, a 125MB package for $49.99/month, a 275MB package for $99.99/month and 800MB package for $199.99/month.
