San Francisco – AT&T Business Solutions chief John Stankey said at his CTIA keynote address this morning that the country’s economic recovery is not being driven by new jobs, it’s being driven by efficiency – and wireless is playing a key part in that trend.
“Following the last half dozen recessions, the economic recovery has been led by growth in employment. But not this time,” Stankey said. “By and large, companies are not hiring to spur their growth, they’re making their processes more efficient.”
This is good news for the wireless industry as businesses leverage mobile technologies to streamline operations and manage mobile workforces. Stankey pointed to several technologies being leveraged by businesses in the mobile environment, such as virtualization and video conferencing.
“Mobility makes a difference in just about every process you can think of,” Stankey said. “I believe our industry has only just begun to realize the full potential of what we can do for business.”
