AT&T Announces New Vendors for Domain 2.0

By Staff Author | December 10, 2014

AT&T today announced three new vendors to its Domain 2.0 supplier program.

According to a press release, Brocade Communications Systems, Ciena and Cisco Systems are all signed on to help as AT&T continues the evolution of its network.

AT&T has said that virtualizing its network will increase cost efficiencies and decrease time to market.

Susan Johnson, senior vice president, AT&T Global Supply Chain, said in a statement that AT&T is seeking out “agile and disruptive suppliers to help” complete in realizing the promise of Domain 2.0.

AT&T said it is not revising its previously announced capital expenditure guidance as a result of the announcement. However, in the next five years, AT&T expects its next-generation network to reflect a downward bias toward capital spending as the company moves from relying more heavily on software than hardware.

AT&T first announced a number of vendors for Domain 2.0 back in February at Mobile World Congress. AT&T is already working with Ericsson, Tali-F Systems, and Metaswitch Networks, among others.

Shares of Brocade Systems were up about 1 percent in early trading Wednesday to $11.31. Ciena was down just under 2 percent to $17.28, and Cisco was also down slightly to $27.28.
