AT&T announced that its GoPhone customers will now have access to LTE.
The new plans start at $60 for 2 GB of LTE plus unlimited talk and text and offers additional gigabytes of data for $10. Below that is a $40 plan with 200 MB of LTE, 500 nationwide minutes and unlimited messaging. An additional 100 MB of data on that plan runs $5. The $25 plan provides 250 nationwide minutes with unlimited text and an option to add 50 MB for $5. So, the choice should be pretty clear.
AT&T is selling the Samsung Galaxy Express for $249 to take advantage of the LTE airwaves but customers have the option of bringing their own device. The Express and the LTE service will both be available starting June 21.
Earlier this year, Sprint announced LTE availability for its prepaid brands, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. Verizon reserves LTE for its postpaid subscribers and pushes prepaid subs out to its 3G network.
