AT&T today announced that Amdocs Limited and Juniper Networks will join the list of vendors discussing the design and deployment of the carrier’s User-Defined Network Cloud.
At Mobile World Congress, AT&T first announced the new network initiative and the first group of vendors; Ericsson, Tail-F Systems AB, and Metaswitch Networks LTD.
The growing list of Domain 2.0 vendors follows AT&T’s commitment toward network virtualization.
The User-Defined Network Cloud is integrated through AT&T’s Wide Area Network (WAN) and utilizes Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networks (SDN).
AT&T said it hopes Domain 2.0 will help improve time-to-revenue, provide cost-performance leadership, enable new growth services and apps; ensure security, performance and reliability; and facilitate new business and revenue models.
AT&T said it would not be adjusting its CapEx guidance based on the new announcement. But the carrier did say the User-Defined Network Cloud program would reflect a downward bias toward CapEx over the next five years.
