AT&T today announced a sizable agreement to connect a fleet of federal vehicles.
According to a press release, AT&T was awarded a five-year blanket purchase agreement from the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Fleet Management to offer fleet management services to federal agencies.
The agreement includes fleet management services for more than 204,000 vehicles currently leased through GSA Fleet, which provides lease and purchase options to 75 government agencies.
A statement said the agreement will let government agencies buy AT&T GPS vehicle tracking, vehicle monitoring and diagnostics capabilities to improve the efficiency of their fleet operations.
AT&T says the services can help create a more green fleet, referencing an executive order that requires federal fleets of more than 20 vehicles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Our fleet management services can help agencies meet the new emission targets,” said Mike Leff, vice president-civilian, AT&T Government Solutions. “They let agencies cost-effectively manage their vehicles, improve productivity and reduce fuel consumption.”
AT&T fleet management solutions deliver data such as vehicle location and performance indicators that can help agency fleet managers enhance route planning, vehicle usage and maintenance scheduling.
