AT&T Offers Uber Drivers Extra Data
AT&T announced Wednesday it will offer eligible Uber drivers an additional 1GB of data on their personal AT&T mobile device through its Work Platform.
The offer can be combined with existing mobile service discounts offered by the carrier, AT&T said. It appears eligible drivers must be part of Uber’s Momentum Rewards Program, which offers drivers rewards to help them “stay healthy, grow their business or reduce overall operating costs.”
AT&T senior vice president of Big Data and Advanced Solutions Abhi Ingle said the offer showcases the versatility of the carrier’s Work Platform and offers an example of how it can “address both traditional businesses and the unique needs of people working in the sharing economy.”
The collaboration between AT&T and Uber is nothing new. In May 2014, AT&T announced the Uber app would integrated in its new Android phones. This October, the companies teamed up again to bring live college football games to tablets in the backsets of connected Uber cars.
Launched in 2009, Uber is a transportation company that connects mobile users with local drivers of taxis, private cars and shared rides.
