AT&T’s Government Solutions business has won a 5-year contract from the U.S. Census Bureau to modernize the agency’s survey techniques.
According to an announcement from the carrier, AT&T will provide the Census Bureau with access to its 4G LTE network and Internet of Things (IoT) services to “support critical survey work preformed nationwide by up to 20,000 census takers. AT&T said its services will allow census takers in the field to use mobile applications to record and deliver data in real time.
“We’re excited to provide advanced mobility and IoT services to the Census Bureau to help it transform and improve its data collection programs,” said AT&T Government Solutions civilian vice president Mike Leff.
Under the agreement, AT&T said the Census Bureau will also have access to the AT&T Contol Center, where it will be able to “monitor, understand and control its wireless network usage,” and make adjustments to its data needs based on capacity.
