AT&T may be looking to create more stickiness across it Cricket prepaid brand.
Cricket today announced a new rewards program that could be unique to the prepaid market.
Cricket Rewards allows people to earn redeemable points for doing things on their devices like checking the weather, tracking fitness, or through making on-time payments.
The points can then be used through a number of retailers and other venues, including AMC Movie theaters, Amazon, GameStop, Old Navy, Sears & Target.
The new program could be another way for AT&T to keep unpredictable prepaid customers coming back to the carrier.
Cricket proved a bright spot for AT&T in its most recent quarter. The carrier saw 466,000 prepaid net adds, the company’s best prepaid net add quarter in nearly 8 years.
