AT&T added 2.1 million net new customers to its wireless service in the fourth quarter, including 1.9 million iPhone 3G accounts. The iPhone 3G accounts surprised some analysts who had braced for the worst after Apple recently reported a 36% decline in iPhone shipments.
The iPhone helped drive up revenue for Web browsing and video download 51% compared with a year earlier.
