Boost, Virgin Mobile Announces LTE Service, New Phones

Boost and Virgin Mobile are making the jump in speed up to LTE. Both operate on Sprint’s LTE network.

The postpaid providers have each announced the first phones that will run on their new faster offering, with Samsung’s Galaxy Victory coming to Virgin and the HTC One SV coming to Boost.

The Android-powered Victory runs Jelly Bean 4.1 packs a 4-inch touchscreen, 1.2 GHz processor, 5MP camera, NFC and a MicroSD slot for expanding storage up to 32GB. The phone comes with 4GB internal along with 1GB of RAM. Virgin Mobile is currently selling the phone online for $299, and plans to roll it out to retailers by mid-March.

The One SV will be available from Boost mid-March for the same $299 and will flash a lot of spec similarities to the Victory. In addition to that phone, the company will offer the Boost Force, a 4-inch touchscreen device with a 1.5GHz processor that will also run on Sprint’s LTE network.

Sprint last month turned on LTE in 28 more cities and has made it known it plans to completely cover its 3G footprint by the end of 2013.
