The TMQ4 and TMQ5 cable assemblies from Times Microwave bundle four or five individual 5G connections into one cable run.
The TMQ4 and TMQ5 bundled cable assemblies for 5G combine industry-standard four and five conductor MQ4 and MQ5 connectors with Times Microwave’s high-end coaxial cables. The cables reduce the number of cable runs from a base stations radios to the electronics below. MIMO antennas in a base station increase the number of RF inputs required to connect to RF amplifiers.
In addition to more antennas, 5G’s higher frequency bands result in smaller antenna sizes than at low frequencies. That, in turn, results in more antennas in a smaller space. This densification creates more work related to installation, torquing, ensuring proper weather sealing, and other issues.
Because they can handle four or five individual connections in a single bundled cable, the TMQ4 and TMQ5 reduce the number of individual connections between power amplifiers and antennas. Fewer individual cables save a labor during a base-station installation. The cables are available with weather-protective boots, which seal them to IP-67 specifications based on IEC 60529 for water and dust resistance. The cables are UV resistant, resulting in higher durability.
Available with Times Microwave’s LMR cables and low passive intermodulation (PIM) options such as the SPO and TFT-5G, the TMQ4 and TMQ5 diameters measure 0.25 in. and smaller. They are also available with corrugated copper outer sheaths and ultra-flexible flat braid constructions.
