C Spire Debuts ‘5G’ Fixed Wireless Internet

By Andy Szal | July 17, 2018

C Spire recently introduced a “5G Internet” fixed wireless service that officials said provides internet speeds of 120 Mbps for $50 per month.

The Mississippi-based carrier said the service connects from its fiber and base stations to a “dinner plate-sized” antenna attached on the roof of a home or business, which is then connected to the in-home or business network with an Ethernet cable and small power adapter.

The company also said its monthly plan doesn’t include data limits, long-term contracts or installation or early termination fees.

The service launched over the weekend and is currently only available in a handful of markets, according to a report from Cord Cutters News.

“We’re on a mission to transform Mississippi one neighborhood at a time,” the company said on its website. “By leveraging 5G technology and our commitment to community, we aim to give Mississippians more choices and opportunities than ever before.”
