Apple iOS users on wireless provider C Spire’s network will now be able to take advantage of increased Wi-Fi connectivity, the carrier announced Monday.
According to C Spire, a new partnership with Devicescape will give the carrier’s iOS customers free access to more than 20 million Wi-Fi access points around the globe through the “WiFi On” app in the App Store.
The Wi-Fi hotspot service was originally made available to Android users in 2013 though WiFi On in the Google Play store.
The carrier said Wi-Fi connection points will be available in popular locations, including Walmart, McDonalds, Home Depot, Target and Chick-fil-A in addition to other retail locations, stadiums, and smaller locations like libraries and restaurants.
C Spire said the hotspot connections will complement its 4G LTE coverage and allow customers to better manage their data usage. The carrier said the service will also help improve indoor coverage and manage roaming usage.
“WiFi On helps extend our network reach and gives our customers with Android phones a way to better manage data while improving the quality and speed of their overall data experience,” C Spire COO Kevin Hankins said. “We look forward to delivering those same enhanced benefits to customers with Apple smartphones.”
