Cincinnati Bell Launches Nokia 5800

By Andrew Berg | May 5, 2009

Cincinnati Bell Wireless is the first carrier in the United States to launch the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic smartphone.

The new smartphone comes with an 8 GB microSD memory card and a one touch Media Bar. The Media Bar enables one-touch access to a user’s music collection, image and video gallery, Web browser and other multimedia functions. The 5800 also boasts a 3.2 megapixel camera enhanced with a Carl Zeiss lens. Images and video are displayed on a 3.2-inch screen in HD.

Tim Bracken, director of consumer wireless for Cincinnati Bell, noted in a press release that the phone has built-in GPS, a touch screen and comes with Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi enabled.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is available from Cincinnati Bell Wireless for $149 with a new activation and mail-in rebate.

While the debut is noteworthy for its launch with a U.S. carrier and its attractive price point, Nokia has taken some criticism for its reluctance to offer an exclusive launch to carriers in the United States. In the case of the 5800 XpressMusic, the device has been available in Europe and Asia since October of 2008.
