Digital entertainment provider CinemaNow and mobility software and services provider uVuMobile have partnered to offer a service for consumers to preview movie trailers on mobile phones and remotely download full-length movies to compatible consumer electronic devices.
“As Internet-enabled phones rise in popularity, companies need to keep pace with innovation, offering solutions which leverage that feature,” said David Cook, president and COO of CinemaNow, in a statement. “This partnership with uVuMobile has helped CinemaNow pioneer another first-to-market digital distribution method that we expect will make a tremendous difference in the industry by giving customers access to movies anytime, anywhere.”
The service is not another push for consumers to watch full-length movies on their mobile phone, rather users with WAP-enabled handsets can preview trailers of CinemaNow’s library of 10,000 titles and then use the handset to download selections to CinemaNow Media Manager-enabled devices, such as PCs, digital TV sets, portable media players and network attached storage devices.
The service is a combination of uVuMobile’s Media Distribution Platform and CinemaNow’s digital entertainment distribution technology. uVuMobile’s Media Distribution Platform is compatible with any carrier network and a variety of handsets.
