Citi and Best Buy today announced the new Citi ThankYou Rewards app, which will allow Citi loyalty members to more easily redeem points for products sold at Best Buy.
The app lets users scan barcodes to get information about a particular product or to see how many loyalty points a particular product costs. Users can purchase items directly from the app and have their purchase ready for them at any Best Buy store around the country.
The app is available for free on both iOS and Android.
Ralph Andretta, executive vice president of loyalty and new products at Citi, said during a live webcast of the launch event that the app is part of his company’s mission to become “the best digital bank in the world.” Andretta noted that Citi is a partner, along with MasterCard, on Google’s Mobile Wallet initiative.
During a discussion after the announcement, Andretta said Citi will continue to assess how it can better address the mobile experience for its customers. He suggested one possible evolution of the product would include different pricing structures for different levels of Citi loyalty members.
