Following its successful merger with Sprint Nextel’s WiMAX division, Clearwire reportedly expects to have 1.3 million subscribers by the end of 2009 and 4.6 million by the end of 2010. Clearwire CEO Benjamin Wolf at an investor presentation yesterday, reportedly projected revenues of more than $17.5 billion by 2017, when he expects the company will have about 31 million subscribers.
Clearwire and Sprint plan to merge WiMAX divisions, and so far have secured funding from Intel, Google, Comcast, Time Warner and Bright House. The two hope to close the deal by the end of this year; Wolff will remain head of the merged Clearwire.
The deal is still subject to approval by the FCC and the Department of Justice.
