Apple will hold an event on September 9, where the company is expected to announce the next iteration(s) of the iPhone.
Multiple media outlets today reported receiving invites to the event. Of course, Apple isn’t fessing up to just exactly what will be announced early next month.
The invites come emablzaoned with the tease, “Wish we could say more.”
Re/code’s John Paczkowski was first to report that Apple would launch its next iPhone on September 9. Just yesterday, Paczkowski reported that the event may produce a wearable, possibly an ‘iWatch.’
Most reports now have Apple eventually releasing two versions of its iPhone—one with a 4.7-inch display and one with a 5.5-inch display. The latter is expected later in the year.
If the reports are true, this will be the second year now that Apple is making two new iPhones available simultaneously. And the company is reportedly gearing up for record-setting demand. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Apple’s initial iPhone orders were in the 70-80 million units range, far eclipsing the 50-70 million iPhone 5S/5C units it ordered ahead of last year’s launch.
