On the heels of Nokia’s unveiling this week of the MeeGo-based N9, the company’s CEO, Stephen Elop, took time to show off a prototype running WP7 at a recent employee gathering. Video of the scene was posted at technet.hu.
The video shows Elop putting a smartphone that looks very much like the N9 beneath a projector. “Beautiful design, Gorilla Glass,” Elop says, as he turns the phone over for the crowd to see.
Technet.hu also posted pictures of the device running Microsoft’s WP7 Mango OS.
In the video, Elop asks everyone in the room to turn off their recording devices, explaining to the crowd of Nokia employees that, “this is something that is super confidential, and we do not want to see out in the blogosphere.”
At a recent investor conference, Elop admitted that Nokia already has prototypes that run WP7, but this is the first glimpse of any Nokia hardware running the software that has gone public.
