A new YouTube video is gaining popularity as the push for STEM continues to gain traction. Commission by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), in association with Bechtel, the music video “Engineering Happiness” is set to Pharrell’s “Happy.”
The video highlights some of London’s most famous infrastructure projects, including Crossrail, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Thames Barrier, London Underground, Walton Bridge, Kings Cross Station, and the Hammersmith Flyover.
According to ICE, “The video aims to address the fact that although many young people enjoy the activities at the heart of engineering – using the latest technology, designing things and solving problems – only half of 11-14 year olds would consider it as a career.”
Highlighted in the video is Sir John Armitt, an engineer who helped prepare the 2012 Olympics venues, and ICE’s director, General Nick Baveystock.
Since its release, ICE has received many requests from schools wanting to know more, according to a recent article.
