Infinite Peripherals to provide remote key injection on all mobile peripherals
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. – Nov. 13, 2013 – Equinox Payments has partnered with Infinite Peripherals, Inc. (IPC), the leading developer of mobile point-of-sale (POS) devices. Equinox can now offer a mobile payment solution that is compatible with Apple iOS by integrating IPC’s Linea Pro for the iPod touch or iPhone, or the Infinea Tab for the iPad.
Empowering Apple handheld devices with a barcode scanner and a magnetic stripe reader, both the Linea Pro and Infinea Tab work with custom software to create a mobile system for POS, as well as inventory management, asset tracking, ID verification and lead tracking. To date, IPC has deployed more than 300,000 of its mobile POS devices nationwide.
“We are delighted to extend our product portfolio to support customers that are seeking a best-of-breed and field-proven iOS-based mobile system,” said Patrick K. Hazel, chairman and CEO of Equinox Payments. “With their expertise, relationship with Apple and experience with 30 percent of the top 20 U.S. retailers, Infinite Peripherals is an ideal partner to equip Equinox to better serve the industry and continue our track record of providing industry-leading solutions.”
Under the terms of the agreement, IPC will be able to offer its customers remote key injection capabilities on its POS-related devices, utilizing the Equinox Remote Key Injection (RKI) platform and thereby maximizing convenience, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. As the pioneer in standards-based RKI and security management, Equinox’s robust technology can securely update cryptographic keys and activate application features without the costly and time-consuming need to remove a device from the store and ship it to a secure key injection facility.
The first system of its kind in the industry, the Equinox RKI platform completely eliminates the need for a secure room or special security procedures by utilizing a proprietary public key infrastructure. This allows symmetric debit PIN and data encryption keys to be safely and securely distributed anywhere a POS device is located. In addition, the Equinox RKI platform enables customers to inject multiple keys in a single session and benefit from greater flexibility when rotating or adding processor and encryption keys.
Customers can set up and manage key injection from anywhere at any time via the Equinox RKI web portal.
“With remote key injection, we will save customers significant freight and labor costs, along with logistical concerns, and deliver a more rapid, streamlined process that best accommodates today’s fast-paced merchant environments,” explained Jeffrey Scott, CEO and co-founder of IPC. “With Equinox’s focus on multi-lane systems and IPC’s focus on mobility systems, this is a perfect marriage to deliver a complete solution to any retailer.”
Remote key injection for IPC POS devices will be available in 2014.
