Ericsson announced Monday that it’s reached an agreement to end all patent infringement litigation with Intellectual Ventures, a deal the telecom equipment vendor expects to negatively impact operating income in its Segment Networks this quarter.
IP licensing company Intellectual Ventures brought multiple patent infringement lawsuits against Ericsson since 2012, in both the U.S. and Europe. One of those cases went to trial earlier this year, netting Intellectual Ventures a $43 million win. The February decision from a Texas jury found T-Mobile and Ericsson infringed on patents used for wireless services on the LTE network, awarding Intellectual Ventures $34 million against T-Mobile and $9 million against Ericsson.
The new license agreement settles the February action, along with all other patent infringement litigation between the companies, according to Ericsson.
Terms of the deal are confidential.
