By Wireless Week staff | August 31, 2012

DTS, provider of high-definition audio, has announced integration of DTS Sound into the Coolpad Quattro 4G smartphone, manufactured by Yulong Computer Communications (Shenzhen).  Available now from service provider MetroPCS, the 4G LTE smartphone marks the first Coolpad device in the U.S. that features DTS Sound.

Verizon Wireless has implemented a mobile giving program, enabling customers to contribute to relief and recovery efforts supporting communities affected by Hurricane Isaac.  Customers can make a $10 donation by texting REDCROSS to 90999.  Those interested in giving more can donate up to five times their original donation.  For example, customers making a $10 donation can give up to $50.

Snell today announced that its Sirius 800 family of routing switchers has been enhanced with the availability of frame synchronization on the units’ Advanced Hybrid Processing (AHP) input and output cards. The resulting router architecture enables independent processing of audio and video signals with no restrictions on signal formats, timing between signal types, or number of audio channels. Building on the Sirius 800 series’ audio de-embedding, embedding, and audio processing capabilities, the company says the new functionality not only allows all inputs to be retimed before switching and enables operators to guarantee SMPTE-compliant switching, but also supports synchronization of incoming lines to a local studio reference.
