Verizon Wireless’ spectrum swap with T-Mobile USA is coming under fire from the Rural Telecommunications Group, an opponent of Verizon’s purchase of AWS spectrum. The group filed a petition to deny the transfer of spectrum between the two operators on Tuesday, claiming that the deal “perpetuates anticompetitive harms” stemming from the AWS transaction. It also argued that the swap should be denied because Verizon was attempting to transfer “licenses which it does not yet have the authority to assign.”

The Motorola Atrix HD is set to arrive at AT&T on July 15. The Android smartphone is just 8.4 millimeters thick, sports a 4.5-inch high-definition display and has a 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing 720p high-definition camera.For a limited time, the Atrix HD is selling for $100 with new two-year contract and data plan.

T-Mobile USA will launch two new feature phones from Huawei on August 8, the myTouch and myTouch Q. Both Android devices have 4-inch touchscreens, front- and rear-facing cameras and 1.4 GHz processors, and the myTouch Q sports a slide-out keyboard. The phones cost $50 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two-year contract with a qualifying rate plan.

Wilson Electronics’ latest cell phone signal booster hit shelves today. The Sleek 4G-V increases the signal strength of Verizon Wireless’ LTE network, as well as signals from 3G and 2G services running on the 800 MHz and 1900 MHz bands, excluding Spirnt’s iDEN network. The booster is designed for use in vehicles but can be used indoors with an additional accessory.

AARP-affiliated wireless brand Consumer Cellular has added a new Android smartphone to its lineup. The Huawei 8800 has a 3.8-inch touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera and is loaded with an app that provides account information and data about AARP member benefits. The phone costs $175 and is being offered with five different data plans.
