Tellabs CEO Rob Pullen died yesterday after a battle with cancer, the company said in a statement. “I was honored to have worked side by side with Rob at Tellabs for 30 years. No words can describe the grief I feel right now,” Chairman Michael Birck said. Dan Kelly, currently serving as acting president and CEO, will continue to lead Tellabs.
Syniverse is buying cloud-based communications services provider MACH for $691 million as part of a move to increase its global scale. MACH’s customer base includes 650 operators including Orange, Telefonica, T-Mobile, Telus, Verizon Wireless and Microsoft, as well as high volume of enterprise messaging customers like KLM.
PCTEL has acquired the remaining stake in its joint venture with Eclipse Design Technologies. The antenna and scanning receiver company said it will pay $800,000 to buy out Eclipse, which will not retain any rights or interest in the PCTEL Secure joint venture. PCTEL Secure’s flagship product is the Prosetta Core security solution for Android devices and SCADA networks.
A new version of the Navigon iPhone navigation app is now available in the App Store. The free update 2.1 includes Google Street View, Navigon Cockpit ($6 in-app purchase), manual route blocking and other functions. Additionally, the Navigon apps for iPhone and selected in app purchases will be available at a reduced price until July 16, 2012.
