U.K. telecommunications regulator Ofcom has set out a timetable for the country’s upcoming auctions of the 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands. Applications are due on Dec. 11. The regulator plans to hold an educational seminar on the auction rules and procedures before next month’s deadline, and has scheduled two mock auctions for Nov. 26 and Dec. 3.

Top executives from AT&T, Ericsson, Qualcomm and Viber Media are slated to speak at Mobile World Congress in February. They will be part of the previously announced keynote lineup, which includes the CEOs of Deutsche Telekom, NTT Docomo, TeliaSonera, Vodafone Group, KT and Telecom Italia Group. Registration for the event is now open. Mobile World Congress takes place at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from Feb. 25-28, 2013.

Page Plus Cellular has added more data to two of its monthly prepaid plans as well as reduced its overage fees. The Talk n Text 1200 plan now provides 250 MB of data, increased from the previous 100 MB, and its Unlimited Talk n Text plan has also received a data increase, from 100 MB to 200 MB of data per month. The data overage rate for the unlimited plan has also been reduced to $.05 per MB.

Hong Kong wireless operator SmarTone is using Syniverse’s IPX solution and diameter signaling service, readying its network for LTE roaming with other providers. The equipment will allow SmarTone to participate in Syniverse’s LTE interoperability trials. The two companies have worked together for the past 16 years, with SmarTone using a number of Syniverse’s value-added services, roaming solutions and signaling solutions.
