Beginning Oct. 7, AT&T GoPhone smartphone customers will have a new rate plan option. The new Monthly Unlimited Plan with Data offers unlimited talk and text, with 1 GB of data for $65 per month. Unlimited text messaging to Mexico, Canada and over 100 other countries is also included. AT&T says the new plan is specially designed for smartphone users, and saves them $10 per month compared to previously available options.

iGR Research today launched the pre-purchase of GlobalStats, a new iPad app that will offer data and information on the wireless and mobile communications industry. The new app will allow iGR to open access to its survey data and forecasts. iGR is using the crowdfunding website, Indiegogo to fund development of the app. Interested wireless and mobile industry professionals can “pre-purchase” the app at a reduced cost in a fixed funding campaign starting October 1st, 2012. iGR plans to develop the new product in November and December and expects to make the app and research available in January of 2013. 

AT&T on Friday declared a quarterly dividend of $0.44 a share on the company’s common shares. The dividend is payable on Nov. 1, 2012, to stockholders of record at the close of business on October 10, 2012. AT&T will announce the company’s third-quarter 2012 financial results on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.

HughesNet, provider of broadband satellite networks and services, today announced its new high-capacity satellite Internet service, HughesNet Gen4, has been successfully activated and is available for new subscribers. The company says Gen4 will deliver up to 15 Mbps, depending on plane, and greater download capacity.
