Novatel Wireless has filed a second patent suit against ZTE. The new complaint alleges the Chinese company is infringing on a “key” Novatel patent related to its mobile Wi-Fi hotspots and USB modems. The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
Alcatel-Lucent is expanding its presence in the small cell backhaul market with new variations of its 7705 service aggregation router, a wider range of microwave backhaul products and adjustments to its existing portfolio to better support small cells. It has also expanded its professional services to help operators with small cell deployments.
U.S. Cellular took the wraps off the Huawei Ascend Y today. The Android handset is targeted at entry-level smartphone users, and features a 3.5-inch screen and 3.2 megapixel camera. The Ascend Y is available now and is selling for just $30 with a two-year contract.
Cricket Communications launched the Samsung Comment 2 yesterday. The messaging device has a physical keyboard, 2.4-inch display, 480 MHz processor and 2 megapixel camera. The Leap Wireless International subsidiary is selling the phone at a no-contract price of about $90.
