First News Briefs: Nuance, ZTE, Bandwidth, Alcatel-Lucent, Lazus, GIV Mobile

Nuance Communications, Inc. and ZTE Corporation today announced an all new ZTE Car Mode application for ZTE Android devices. ZTE is integrating Nuance’s voice biometrics technology for screen unlock. With each different user’s voiceprint, ZTE smartphones will access the general mode or child mode instantly – no swiping, PINS, passwords or hands required.

Bandwidth, a provider of scalable voice, 9-1-1 and SMS solutions, today announced that ArrowS3 has embedded Bandwidth’s voice network into its new cloud-based unified communications suite. ArrowS3 is a solutions provider specializing in unified communications, voice and data technologies, contact center and network security.

Alcatel-Lucent today announced it has been selected by Lazus – telecommunications operator working under the model carrier to carriers in Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica – to deploy ‘metro’ networks in nine cities in Colombia.

GIV Mobile has joined efforts to restore and protect urban and rural forests with American Forests, a national nonprofit conservation organization. GIV Mobile subscribers can now donate 8% of their monthly bill to American Forests to help plant trees, restore forest ecosystems, educate the public on the importance of forests and more.
