First News Briefs: Skyworks, AT&T, Syniverse, Trimble, Sprint

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. today announced that MediaTek is leveraging several of Skyworks’ front-end solutions in their dual-core MT6572 platform which is supporting multiple leading tier-one smartphone manufacturers in emerging markets.

AT&T today announced six new LTE markets: Rockford, IL; Fairmont, MN; Owatonna, MN; Rochester, MN; Williston, ND; Youngstown-Warren, OH

Syniverse announced that it has launched Google Play billing for KPN Group, a telecommunications and information technology service provider. Syniverse Direct Operator Billing solution has allowed KPN Group to roll out a secure payment option to customers with Android phones while opening a new revenue stream from mobile content billing.

Trimble today announced the addition of the Micro-LTE to its ThingMagic Mercury6e Series of embedded UHF RFID modules.

Samsung ATIV S Neo, the second Windows Phone 8 smartphone from Sprint goes on sale Friday, Aug. 16, in direct ship sales channels, including Sprint Stores, Business Sales, Web Sales and Telesales at 1-800-SPRINT1, for $149.99 with a new line or eligible upgrade, two-year service agreement and $50 mail-in rebate via reward card.
