First News Briefs: Sprint, Samsung, UPS, Ruckus, SanDisk, Magisto, Viddi

Sprint has selected Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC to support the deployment of a next-generation network in the 2.5 GHz spectrum (3GPP Band 41) with Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplex (LTE-TDD) equipment.

UPS announced the launch of its route optimization software known as ORION, which stands for On-Road Integrated Optimization and Navigation.  ORION has a team of 500 dedicated resources to move the U.S deployment forward as UPS nears its holiday season. The rollout of ORION will optimize 10,000 delivery routes by the end of the year, reduce miles driven and reinforce UPS’s sustainability efforts.

Ruckus Wireless, Inc. announced financial results for its third quarter of 2013 ended September 30, 2013. Revenue for the third quarter of 2013 was $68.9 million, an increase of 17.7% from the third quarter of 2012. GAAP net income for the third quarter of 2013 was $0.1 million, compared with net income of $5.5 million in the third quarter of 2012.

SanDisk Corporation announced it is investing in Magisto, creator of a video editing app with more than 13 million users on iOS and Android platforms.

Viddi Inc., a mobile app development company, announced it has released a new way to send customized video messaging. ViddiPops allows users to create videos up to 20 seconds long that can be customized with thousands of themed endings.
