AT&T today announced Connected Intersections, a new traffic safety initiative to spur technological solutions to improve traffic safety on New York City streets. The initiative seeks to utilize smartphone technology and wireless networks to make pedestrians, cyclists and motorists more aware of their surroundings and alert them to potential dangers.

Ericsson today announced Ericsson Expert Analytics, a real-time, big data analytics platform that enables operators to derive insights from big data and to turn those insights into appropriate actions in real time. Expert Analytics is a fully configurable, horizontal platform that can support a variety of use cases for marketing, customer care, operations and network, based on fresh data from network nodes, OSS/BSS, probes, terminals, social media and other sources.

Autonet Mobile, an Internet-based telematics and applications service platform provider for the automotive transportation industry, today announced it will be deploying a 4G-enabled Telematics Control Unit (TCU) to enhance its connected car offering. Autonet’s 4G TCU is embedded directly in the vehicle’s CAN bus system.

Launching its preorder channel globally today is PulseOn, the new wearable heart rate monitoring device that tracks a user’s heart rate continuously without the need for a chest belt. PulseOn, a start-up spun out from Nokia in 2012, has developed a small wrist device, allowing users to monitor their heart rate during training events and beyond. With wireless connectivity to iOS and Android mobile applications, the heart rate data is transformed into feedback on training that is personalized for each individual.
