FirstNews Briefs: AT&T, Snapchat, Vuzix, Thread Group, FiberTower

AT&T is set to launch a scripted entertainment series on Snapchat, an ephemeral social platform. AT&T presents SnapperHero — a scripted Snapchat series where real-time engagement meets a superhero universe. Influencers across Snapchat, Vine and YouTube will engage their fan bases to give them a role in shaping the creative direction of the show.

Vuzix Corporation, a supplier of video eyewear and smart glasses products in the consumer, commercial and entertainment markets, announced that its M100 Smart Glasses along with warehouse “vision picking” software developed by Ubimax, a wearable computing solutions company, has delivered hands-free warehouse solutions for DHL.

The Thread Group today announced the addition of Somfy, a provider of home control products, and Tyco, a fire protection and security solutions company, to its Board of Directors. Thread is the new IP-based low-power wireless mesh networking protocol designed for the home and the Thread Group is an industry alliance chartered with guiding adoption of Thread.

FiberTower Corporation, a privately held spectrum services provider and holder of spectrum portfolios of market-based 24 GHz and 39 GHz licenses, announced that it opened a millimeter wave spectrum technology laboratory in Silver Spring, Maryland.
