FirstNews Briefs: C Spire, Callis, J.J. Keller, Verizon, Smith Micro, Panasonic, Netgear

C Spire announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Callis Communications, a provider of cloud-based communications services for businesses. Based in Mobile, Alabama, Callis serves customers in key business markets across the Southeast. As part of the merger announced in December, Callis customers will gain access to additional products and services.

Fleets now have an new way to transition to E-Logs as J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. introduces the J. J. Keller Compliance Tablet powered by Verizon. The J. J. Keller Compliance Tablet comes pre-loaded with their J. J. Keller Mobile app, offering drivers a system to record Hours of Service and vehicle inspection data. Through the Verizon network, this data is sent to J. J. Keller’s web-based Encompass fleet compliance system.

Smith Micro Software, Inc. announced a partnership with Panasonic to address mobility management challenges for customers. Panasonic will team with Smith Micro to offer enhanced wireless security, connectivity, data traffic and device management solutions to a variety of enterprise, M2M and public sector markets.

NETGEAR, Inc. reported financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2013. Net revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2013 was $356.6 million, as compared to $310.4 million for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2012, and $361.9 million in the third quarter ended September 29, 2013. Net income, computed in accordance with GAAP, for the fourth quarter of 2013 was $11.4 million, or $0.30 per diluted share. This compared to GAAP net income of $16.1 million, or $0.41 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2012, and GAAP net income of $14.5 million, or $0.37 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2013.
