TeliaSonera has renewed and expanded its contract with Ericsson, that was initially signed back in 2010. Ericsson will now perform field operation services for the operator’s fixed and mobile networks. As a result of contract extension, Ericsson will also expand its footprint into eight new regions.

Verizon Wireless announced it has enhanced its service on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to provide riders with the high-speed data. Throughout BART tunnels, stations and the Transbay Tube, Verizon deployed XLTE.
Verizon has deployed 100G technology on its network in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. This deployment, which used the Fujitsu Flashwave 9500 ROADM and Ciena 5430 Reconfigurable Switching System, added approximately 11,681 terrestrial and submarine miles (18,800 kilometers) to the company’s 100G network. These additional miles add to the more than 32,000 100G miles already deployed on Verizon’s U.S. network and 8,500 100G miles on its European network.
