• President Barack Obama will keep his Research In Motion BlackBerry, but only with a new e-mail address and very specific rules, officials said. The address will only be given to select friends of the president, who will undergo a White House security briefing. The messages also cannot be forwarded.
• Research company Ovum says the recently announced Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone will ship in Europe in the next few days, but that it needs some improvement to be on par with Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android platform. However, a test unit did not crash or hang, which is rare, Ovum noted.
• In-building wireless company Connectivity Wireless Solutions (CWS) announced the purchase of Atlanta-based XCOMM, which provides cabling installation, maintenance and repair service. CWS also recently opened a new branch office in Dallas.
