FirstNews Briefs for September 10, 2008

By Staff Author | September 10, 2008

• Touchscreens will be a $5 billion market in 2009, ABI Research said.  Samsung, Motorola and Sony-Ericsson currently lead that market, while Apple is only a niche player despite the popularity of the iPhone, ABI’s analysts found.

• Interop Technologies today said its new SMSC-4 can handle 36,000 text messages per second.

• Polaris Wireless has a new feature for its Wireless Location Signatures product line designed to work with assisted-GPS systems for the highest possible accuracy. In keeping up with growing demand from their mobile gaming consumers, DeviceAnywhere’s cost-effective solutions will help to bring their high-quality mobile content to market faster.

• Mobile network management company Astellia is extending its activities in South America. The company has new but undisclosed operator customers in Chile and Columbia.
