• More than 9,800 McDonald’s restaurants across the country will start offering free Wi-Fi to Zune users, thanks to Microsoft and Wayport. New software for Zune allows users to wirelessly stream and download music from the Zune Marketplace store; tag and buy songs from the built-in FM radio; and tap into personalized music recommendations and programming.
• SureSite, a national site development company, has promoted Courtney Schmidt to executive vice president. Schmidt joined SureSite in 1999 as a site development specialist with responsibility for new communication site development projects in the Midwest. She was promoted to zoning manager with responsibility for land use and zoning-related functions for the company, and in 2005, she was promoted to vice president of zoning services.
• Cellpoint Mobile has launched its Mobile Enterprise Framework (MEF), an architectural framework that lets large enterprises launch mobile services extending their legacy business applications to the mobile environment. The MEF consists of modules, data repositories, SDKs and APIs that can be incorporated into an existing infrastructure architecture enabling companies to mobilize their business quickly and seamlessly.
