• AT&T said it certified Qualcomm’s new Gobi chipset. The companies also announced certification for notebooks from Hewlett-Packard and Panasonic.
• Motorola has added two Bluetooth headsets to its line: the MotoPure H15 and the H780. Both are designed for background noise cancellation.
• Qualcomm has promoted Derek Aberle to executive vice president and president of Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL). He replaces Marv Blecker, who has decided to reduce his day-to-day management responsibilities and become a part-time Qualcomm employee. Aberle joined Qualcomm in 2000 after supporting the Company as outside counsel for several years. Most recently, Aberle served as senior vice president and general manager within QTL.
• Tower solutions provider GlenMartin has opened additional offices in Beijing, China; Tianjin, China; and Mexico City. The company’s headquarters are in Boonville, Mo.
• Perytons has introduced its monitoring tool, an add-on to the 802.15.4/ZigBee Perytons protocol analyzer suite. The tool lets operators automatically oversee the performance of their networks. It automatically generates alarms notifying field engineers and support teams of specific performance degradation and scenarios meeting pre-defined criteria.
• Bluetooth headset provider JayBird has appointed eXpansys to promote its products through e-commerce channels.
