• Motorola launched its WiMAX interoperability testing program in its Arlington Heights, Ill. and Taiwan testing labs. Through the program, Motorola can help its customers confirm that devices are WiMAX-compatible and that various manufacturers’ products will interoperate.
• This next Webby Awards will include special categories for the mobile Web. The new categories are Best Mobile Applications, Best Mobile Experimentation & Innovation, Best Integrated Mobile Experience, Best Use of Mobile Video and Best Use of GPS or Location Technology.
• InnerWireless has deployed its Horizon system at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss., to guarantee mission- and life-critical wireless communications. Beau Rivage is the tallest (32 stories) and largest (3.2 million square feet) building in the state. InnerWireless provided cellular/PCS, back-of-house wireless communications, 2-way radios for first-responders and Wi-Fi for guests in public areas. Following Hurricane Katrina three years ago, MGM Mirage and Beau Rivage executives vowed to rebuild the resort to jumpstart the region’s economy.
