FirstNews Briefs: IBM, KPN, Walmart, T-Mobile, AT&T, Mosaik Solutions

By Wireless Week staff | May 20, 2014

IBM and Dutch telecommunications provider KPN have developed a mobile app to engage fans. The app integrates real-time, virtual experiences on a mobile device allowing users to participate in activities such as watching a live football game from multiple angles, voting for ‘Man of the Match,’ monitoring the scores of concurrent matches, and ordering food and beverages.

Walmart will offer T-Mobile connected tablets. The Trio AXS 3G Quad Core tablet will be available starting May 17 and will be priced at $179. The HP Slate 7 HD tablet will be available starting in June and will be priced at $229.

Beginning May 23, AT&T will sell online and in store location the VoLTE-enabled Galaxy S 4 mini. Customers can also get the premium smartphone at $14.24 on Next 18 or $18.50 on Next 12. The cost of the device is $49.99 with a two-year agreement.

Mosaik Solutions debuts its Wireless Infrastructure Package for MapELEMENTS, its cloud-based GIS SaaS, that offers multi-level wireless network coverage and new mapping features designed for tower professionals. The package will help users learn how tower assets align with wireless networks and to discover coverage holes where towers may be needed.
