FirstNews Briefs: ip.access, Amdocs, nTelos, nuPSYS, Cisco, ZTE

By Wireless Week staff | January 26, 2015

ip.access has today announced a global collaboration with Amdocs to accelerate the operator and enterprise roll-out of small cells. The partnership combines ip.access’ portfolio of indoor small cells, access points and range of performance optimization tools with Amdocs’ Radio-Access-Network (RAN), backhaul deployment orchestration tool and Amdocs’ Network Rollout Solution (ANRS).

nTelos Wireless today announced that it will offer iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi + Cellular and iPad mini 3 with Wi-Fi + Cellular beginning this Thurs., Jan. 29.

nuPSYS is partnering with Cisco on their next generation network design products, Cisco Modeling Labs (CML). Cisco Modeling Labs is a scalable software platform for designing, simulating, and testing network models. The platform uses virtualization technology such as OpenStack for simulations. It then combines it with the technology of virtual Cisco IOSv Software compliant for running on virtual machines.

ZTE Corporation completed pre-commercial field testing of multi-user and multi-stream transmission on a Massive MIMO (multiple input multiple output) base station. Using ZTE’s proprietary pre5G multi-user/multi-stream spatial multiplexing technology, with user handsets based on existing 4G standards, the company’s Massive MIMO base station demonstrated peak data throughput that is more than three times that of traditional base stations, and average data throughput that exceeds conventional systems by at least five times.
