By Wireless Week staff | July 9, 2014

LG Electronics (LG) will extend the wearable experience to parents with children with its new KizON wristband. KizON is LG’s new wearable designed for pre-school and primary school children that offers parents a way to keep track of their young children’s whereabouts. Utilizing GPS and Wi-Fi, KizON provides real-time location information allowing parents to track their children’s whereabouts on a smartphone.

Rovi Corporation, a provider of entertainment discovery, today announced that it has renewed a multi-year patent license agreement with Samsung for the use of Rovi video discovery patents and technologies across Samsung’s TV and related products. The renewal adds new regions to encompass Samsung TV products sold on a worldwide basis. The newest agreement comes on the heels of the multi-year patent license agreement that Rovi and Samsung announced earlier this year for the use of Rovi’s patent portfolio across Samsung’s mobile and tablet devices worldwide.

America Movil, the world’s third largest wireless service provider, has selected Alcatel-Lucent to rollout a 4G LTE network in the Dominican Republic.

Today Service Objects, a provider of real-time contact validation and address verification services, announced a new version of its real-time reverse phone look up service, DOTS Geophone Plus 2. In addition, the company has published a new whitepaper focused on helping brands understand the new Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), which makes it illegal for brands to call or text a number for which the consumer is charged without consent.
